How to create a gin bar at home

How to create a gin bar at home

We all have been spending more time at home, and sometimes, it’s not easy to think of new activities to keep you busy. Why not create your own gin bar at home? We assure you that without spending much you will be able to create a unique space, where you can prepare your late afternoon cocktails. Besides, as soon as it is possible to meet with friends again, you will have another excuse to organize a great house party. And, of course, to show your bartender skills. Are you ready? Take a look at our tips.

1. Give a new life to an old piece of furniture

Do you remember that piece of furniture you left in the corner of the room, but you never actually thought of throwing it out? It’s time to roll up your sleeves and give it a new life! Not good at DIY? You can always search online for used furniture at good prices if you don’t want to invest in a good piece. We’re sure you’ll find a piece of furniture that suits you!

2. Start with the basics: gin

What can’t be missing from a gin bar? Obviously, the gin! There are gin brands for all tastes - obviously, you don’t need to have them all, but pick a selection of 5 to 7 brands so you can have different choices. And, of course, Adamus gin can’t be missed!

3. Invest in a few good glasses

We already told you in this article that you should be thorough when you pick a gin glass. A balloon glass is the perfect choice to serve a gin and tonic, but there are many other cocktails that can be served in other types of glasses, such as martini glasses, highballs, among others.

4. The perfect tonic water

A gin bar without tonic water is like a beach day without sun. Once again, you don’t have to invest in many brands - think quality instead of quantity. If you buy the gin first you can always try this Fever Tree free tool that helps you find the best tonic water to pair with a specific gin. It also takes into account, for example, the spices you use.

5. Create a stock of garnishes

Garnishes are also an essential part of a gin cocktail and it’s great if you can stock some to use whenever you need. Some of the most common garnishes are lemon, lime, orange or grapefruit, but if you want to venture into new flavours you can always try pepper, star anise, strawberries, raspberries, rhubarb, rosemary, lavender and edible flowers, among others.

6. Don’t forget the accessories

Although not a priority, over time you can also invest in accessories that will help you to have an even better equipped gin bar. From a citrine scraper to ice moulds, the shaker and bar spoon (and don’t forget the bar mat and the ADAMUS coasters!) - there’s a panoply of accessories that will help you look like a pro!
